Entrepreneur Incubator

An innovative year-long program focused on the design and growth of for-profit businesses, social enterprises or not-for-profit initiatives that are led by Christians and focused on creating positive change beyond the walls of the church.

The program is targeted at entrepreneurs who are creating new initiatives or business owners who are seeking to transition their businesses to achieve greater alignment with God's purposes for the world.

A focus on change

This is not your standard business incubator. Our focus is designing initiatives that bring scalable and sustainable change that aligns with God's purposes for creation. We’re committed to developing and growing your financial model, but money is always the servant not the master.)

A movement behind you

Instead of working on your business alone, successful applicants get a team of coaches and a whole community of like-minded people working with you. Our focus is seeing you flourish. And best of all, when you finish the program, you remain part of this community who are working together to support Christians at the forefront of creating positive social change.

A dynamic learning environment

The best entrepreneurship and innovation happens in a collaborative environment. You will work alongside your cohort, sharpening and supporting one another each step of the way.

High-calibre coaches

Our people are all faithful followers of Jesus and leaders in their own fields.

Personal growth

While the primary focus of the curriculum is the development of the initiative, we also take each leader through an intentional process of character and spiritual formation. This will prepare you to lead change in society throughout your lifetime.

Program

Intensives
The program includes three 3-day residential intensives. Attendance at the intensives is a requirement, and intensives generally run Thursday-Saturday. The first and third intensives are in Sydney and the second intensive is in Melbourne.

Coaching
Your coach will meet with you every month for a focused session designed to keep your idea moving with momentum. You need to do the work, but your coach will help ensure the work you do is both productive and effective.

Showcase
The Showcase event happens in the first half of the year and focuses on presenting your idea to a public audience(friends, families, supporters and the Seed community). This begins (or accelerates) the process of building a community of support behind your initiative.

Pitches

These generally happen toward the end of the program for those who are ready. We help you test and develop your financial/funding model, then identify a targeted group of potential funders and prepare you to pitch for funds/investment for the next phase of your initiative.

Curriculum

The three intensives focus on key aspects of the design and development of your initiative. There is a particular focus on the design of your ‘model’. We will help you develop, test and refine whether what you are proposing is a sustainable and achievable approach to achieving the change that you believe God is calling you to create in the world.

In between the intensives, the coaching process helps you to keep moving toward your desired outcomes and discern specific priorities at each point along the way.

The whole process is committed to helping you and your initiative move toward identified outcomes. A summary of the curriculum is outlined below:

Discovering/Clarifying Purpose (WHY)

  • Identity – who has God made us to be?
  • Context – who/where has God called us to serve?

Story/strategy for change (WHAT)

  • Imagination – what is the change God is calling me to create?
  • Theory of change – what do I believe are the steps to change?
  • Barriers to change
  • Measuring impact

  • Kingdom Centred Design – product/service design
  • Business model

What does it cost?

The incubator is open to both individuals and small teams. We encourage applicants to consider involving their leadership or start-up team in the program with them, up to a maximum of three (3) participants per initiative.

Incubator fees for the 2018 program are $8,000

Fees include all accommodation, meals, training and resources for the intensives, the showcase event and coaching sessions (either face-to-face or digital). Any other costs, including flights and any costs associated with the start-up of your initiative are the participant’s responsibility.

Note: Additional team members cost $1,000 per person – i.e. $9,000 for a team of two, or $10,000 for a team of three. This covers the additional cost of accommodation, meals and resources.

Payment terms:

  • Payment of fees is the sole responsibility of the applicant.
  • Seed operates on a fee for service basis. We do not take equity stakes in the initiatives we incubate.
  • Payment of a non-refundable $500 deposit is required on acceptance of your offer. A minimum of 50% of full payment is required prior to beginning the program. Payment schedules for any outstanding fees to be agreed with Seed in advance.
  • Please note that preparation for a pitching process is included as part of the course payment, but funding is not guaranteed.

Subsidies
